Fat Fish Blue

This rollicking southern-style restaurant and music venue has always been about blues, booze, fun, and food; and if that final element has traditionally come in last, today it's catching up fast, with well-balanced versions of jambalaya, gumbo, and "Cajun lasagna," as well as a whopper of a deep-dish pecan pie. The sprawling horseshoe bar and bistro kitchen fill a two-story concrete hollow. Lots of windows face the street, and potted greenery gives the impression you're eating in a Rousseau jungle. A stenciled Cajun catchphrase orders you to "Let the good times roll." It has a party-central reputation: Think blues, barbecue and Bourbon Street.
